Summary:
The IT Infrastructure Engineer is a hands-on technical owner responsible for the day-to-day operation, reliability, security, and performance of the network infrastructure and business-critical systems. This role serves as the primary point of accountability for assigned infrastructure platforms, partnering with IT Specialists and managed service providers to complete work when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day operation of all servers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair
- Plan and perform routine system maintenance and patching; coordinate scheduling and execution with IT Specialists and vendors as needed
- Own and manage the network and all related components across various sites, including switching/VLANs, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and site-to-site VPNs
- Help define and implement company standards for the selection, configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management of business-critical systems, network infrastructure, and software
- Maintain compliance with software licensing, and software/hardware support agreements
- Maintain records of system downtime and equipment malfunction
- Coordinate with managed services providers and IT Specialists on troubleshooting, monitoring, and updating systems and software
- Maintain availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission-critical resources
- Update, maintain, and test (annually) disaster recovery plans and procedures
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to IT Specialists and other team members; document standards and procedures
- On call for after-hours issues
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience administering and supporting Windows server environments and network infrastructure.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2019 or later).
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Ability to communicate technical information, both verbal and written, to a wide range of end-users
- Travel to the Corporate Office in Watertown, NY for the first month of orientation, followed by routine travel to the Corporate Office an average of 4 days per month.
Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE
