Position Summary:

DCMA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Application Development team, specifically supporting the Risk & Trading Applications team. This team develops and supports business-critical applications and integrations used for trading workflows, market data processing, reference data, messaging, and related operational processes. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, modernize, and support C#/.NET solutions while helping the team strengthen software quality, release discipline, and operational resilience. You will work hands-on across application code, SQL Server, interfaces, production diagnostics, and Azure DevOps, and you will provide technical guidance through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. This is a senior individual contributor position reporting to the Director of App Dev Risk & Trading and does not include direct people-management responsibility.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications, services, APIs, batch processes, and integration components using C#, .NET, SQL Server, and related Microsoft technologies.
  • Modernize existing application components by improving maintainability, testability, performance, security, documentation, and operational resilience without disrupting critical business processes.
  • Build and improve Azure DevOps repositories and CI/CD pipelines, including pull request workflows, build validation, automated testing, release automation, deployment controls, and traceability.
  • Support trading and integration workflows involving market data, messaging, reference data, vendor platforms, file exchanges, REST services, MQ or similar middleware, and other enterprise interfaces.
  • Investigate production issues using application logs, database queries, message-flow tracing, monitoring tools, and source-code analysis; document root causes and implement durable corrective actions.
  • Provide technical leadership through solution design, code reviews, development standards, troubleshooting, mentoring, and knowledge transfer for junior and mid-level developers.
  • Collaborate with business users, operations, infrastructure, project management, risk, and other technology teams to deliver well-controlled solutions in a regulated financial-services environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
  • Strong professional software development experience, including substantial hands-on development with C# and .NET Framework and/or modern .NET.
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise applications, APIs, services, batch processes, or integration solutions in a production environment.
  • Practical experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, pull requests, build automation, release management, and software change controls.
  • Strong SQL Server skills, including query development, stored procedures, data validation, schema awareness, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented design, dependency injection, common design patterns, automated testing, secure coding, logging, monitoring, and root cause analysis.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment during production issues, and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial services, capital markets, trading systems, fixed income, market data, or post-trade processing, preferred.
  • Experience with FIX, SWIFT, MQ, Bloomberg, event-driven architecture, Azure services, application modernization, or container-based deployment, preferred.
